If you are looking for a best career opportunity - you should learn both. As others have clearly mentioned in their answers, you would need one of these tools depending on the application under test (AUT). Lets assume you choose Selenium as the opportunity and learn it. There is no guarantee that you will always get a web based project to use selenium. Same holds true for QTP as well.There are number of applications that cannot be tested using both these tools as well. API validation would be a good example of that.
So learn all the available tools, and dont be tied down by a particular tool.
